I composed ...and Fate turns on a light for the 2013 Norfolk New Music Workshop. Needless to say, the piece has an uncommon instrumentation. To me, each of the six instruments featured in the work has a very strong personality, and I attempted to emphasize this by writing unique motives for each player. Throughout the piece, these motives develop and travel around the ensemble. ...and Fate turns on a light was premiered by the 2013 Norfolk New Music Ensemble, conducted by Julian Pellicano.
